Periperipheries was composed for a site-specific, multichannel sound installation created for Marshgate, UCL East, London. The work invites listeners to deepen their presence in the everyday environment through enlivening perceptions and enhancing awareness. Featuring a minimalist polyphonic choral composition drawing influence from venetian choral music, cori spezzati, (broken choruses) voices call across the vast atrium space, with solo voices serving as coordinates to define the reverberant open space. Interwoven within the composition are field recordings taken from the building itself....
