Waterfields emerged from a journey through Southeast Asia during the winter of 2006–07. Living by the sea for several months inspired me to explore its hidden sonic potential. For six weeks I stayed on the island of Koh Lanta in southern Thailand, along a coastline struck by the tsunami of 2004, where traces of the devastation were still visible.
