The works of Louis Dufort are diverse in nature: fixed media music, mixed music with live processing, and visual music. He receives commissions from various music ensembles and organizations, including the Association for Electroacoustic Creation and Research of Quebec (ACREQ), the Society of Contemporary Music of Quebec (SMCQ), Réseaux/Akousma, Chants Libres, Codes d’accès, the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+), EMPAC, the Quasar saxophone quartet, the Bozzini string quartet, the Sixtrum percussion ensemble, and the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe. Since 1996, he has closely collaborated with choreographer Marie Chouinard, composing music for many of her creations. Louis Dufort teaches composition at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and is the artistic director of Akousma, which produces the annual International Festival of Immersive Digital Music.
