Cognitive Rebirth

Jorge Sad Levi is an Argentine composer, researcher, and concert producer born in Buenos Aires in 1959. He studied composition with Francisco Kröpfl in Buenos Aires and Marcelle Deschênes in Montreal. Sad Levi took part of the LIPM/ Rockefeller Exchange Program for a residency at Visiting Scholar at CCRMA, Stanford University. He has won the Buenos Aires City Prize in the Chamber Music category, as well as numerous international distinctions, like Xicoatl International Composition Contest, Salzbourg 2009 and Metamorphoses d' Orphée 2001, Ohain. He has received commissions from the GRM (Paris), Musiques & Recherches (Belgium) and Música y Tecnología Foundation. He was a professor of Electroacoustic Composition for 20 years at the Alberto Ginastera Conservatory in Argentina, where he trained a generation of composers who are now active on the international scene. He teaches Musical Semiology at the Universidad Tres de Febrero.His scores are published by BabelScores and his records are released by Elektramusic, Luscinia Discos and other international labels Jorge Sad Levi is a significant figure in Argentine and Latin American contemporary music. His work is characterized by its exploration of sound, its use of technology, and its engagement with social and political issues. He is a prolific composer and his music has been performed in major venues around the world.
