The work of the group covers four main areas: technical (spatial audio systems and tools); cognitive-aesthetic (perception and reception of spatial sound/music); theoretical-analytical (understanding and conceptualising spatial music); and practice-based (composing and performing spatial music, including in social settings). The cluster’s work includes sound installations, mobile sound applications, music composition and live performance, film and VR film, and community workshops and, in addition to new musical compositions, the cluster has a strong focus on place, conducting extensive research on location-oriented and sound-centred art practice.
