The ICEM (Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media) at the Folkwang University of the Arts arose out of the Studio for Live Electronic Music and the Electronic Studio. Ever since 1971, people at the Folkwang University of the Arts have been engaging intensively with the many different aspects of electronic music. From the very beginning, composers engaging with live/electronic and electronic music have sought close contact with various artists at the Hochschule.
