ORGANSCAPE Variacións Miméticas I-IV

Xoán-Xil López

Xoán-Xil López is a sound artist and researcher whose work explores phonography, sound experimentation, and the cultural dimensions of listening. He holds a PhD in Fine Arts and has developed a diverse body of work spanning installations, immersive listening experiences, and performances. A co-founder of the influential collective Escoitar.org (2006–2016), he was a key developer of the locative audio platform noTours. His artistic career is marked by international recognition, including an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2021 for Organscape. His projects have been exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the ZKM (Karlsruhe), the New Media Gallery (Vancouver), the Schlossmediale (Werdenberg, Switzerland), KUMU (Tallinn), and the Museo Reina Sofía (MNCARS, Madrid). Combining his creative practice with academia, he has taught at institutions such as UCLA, CRESSON, and the IED.
