Myotis

Kristine Tjøgersen’s compositional practice is characterized by curiosity, imagination, humor and precision. Through her work, she creates unexpected auditory situations through playing with tradition. Nature in motion and process is often reflected in her works, and allows her to incorporate organic forms into the music. She holds a master’s in clarinet from the Norwegian Academy of Music, master’s in composition from Anton Bruckner Universität with Carola Bauckholt, then a fellowship at Akademie der Künste in Berlin. Her works have been performed by a.o. Ensemble Recherche, Klangforum Wien, Arditti Quartet, Kronos Quartet, SWR and WDR Symphonieorchester. She has received numerous prizes like Arne Nordheim Composer Prize, Pauline Hall Prize, «Work of the Year» from the Norwegian Society of Composers, International Rostrum of Composers, Edvard Prize, Composer Prize from the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung, and two Norwegian Grammys (Spellemannsprisen) for her debut album Between Trees.
