L Twills

Lila-Zoé Krauß (*1994) is a multimedia artist, performer and musician. In her work the artist develops a transdisciplinary operatic practice to address questions regarding (post-) modern subjectivity and its relationship to media, trauma and memory. Interweaving music, video, performance, textiles, collage and computer art, Krauss arranges theatrical constellations, in which the perception of reality is being destabilized and questioned. Her long-term research driven projects are presented as exhibitions, (theater) performances and musical publications. Krauss studied Fine Arts at HFBK Hamburg, CalArts Los Angeles and Sound Studies at UDK Berlin. Since 2020 she has released two vinyl albums under the alias L Twills and performed at numerous venues including Kampnagel (Hamburg), NAVEL (Los Angeles), Popkultur Festival (Berlin), Forum Stadtpark (Graz), Documenta15 (Kassel), Secession and Volkstheater (Vienna). In 2024 Kunsthaus Hamburg presented Krauss‘ first institutional solo exhibition with the large scale installation of her multimedia opera [After her Destruction]. The project was subsequently included in several group shows: if you follow the river long enough (2024; Dietikon project space, Zurich), Shifting (2025, Julia Stoschek Foundation, Düsseldorf) and not yet yours to imagine (2025, DAS WEISSE HAUS, Vienna). Krauss regularly produces and performs music in theaters such as Schauspielhaus Wien and Thalia-Theater Hamburg.
