Davor Vincze

Davor Vincze is a composer & sound artist whose work explores the tension between human expression & digital systems. His recent projects span from transdisciplinary performance (Ground on Ground, Carriageworks, Sydney 2025) immersive opera (Freedom Collective, Germany, 2024), AI-inspired performance (manτεία, Freespace West Kowloon, 2024) to post-cinematic installation (On the Other Earth, Venice Biennale, 2025), where he composed or assisted in technically complex sonic architectures linking bodies, algorithms, & audience interaction. Vincze’s artistic practice engages with meta-reality and sound mosaicking, often working with fragmented gestures he calls microllage. Through the manipulation of acoustic residues and digital artifacts, his compositions construct fluid and hybrid sound environments—spaces that allow for ambiguous, androgynous, or unstable identities to emerge. His works have been performed by leading ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Klangforum Wien, JACK Quartet, Talea, HIIIT, and No Borders Orchestra, and presented at festivals including Ars Electronica, ECLAT, Présences, Impuls, MATA, Manifeste, Darmstadt, etc. After studying composition in Graz and Stuttgart, Vincze specialized in electronic music at IRCAM and completed a doctorate in composition at Stanford University. In 2014, he founded the international new music festival Novalis, and since 2023 has served artistic co-director of the Music Biennale Zagreb.
