Susanne Skog’s work in text, sound art, and composition has its roots in narrative art forms, experimental radio, radio drama, and documentary. Her sonic artworks evolve from her own field recordings made around the world — sonic material she transforms into new spatial and poetic realities, altered forms and expressions, frictions and correlations. In addition to her artistic practice, Skog is active as an arts journalist and currently serves as editor for Nutida Musik, the leading Nordic periodical dedicated to sound art and contemporary music. She teaches regularly at Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm, and is part of the interdisciplinary artistic institute r a k e t a. She is also co-founder of Halffloor, a digital platform for one-minute sound artworks, and Radioart.se, a society and online venue for radio drama and sonic art. From 2012 to 2015, Skog was chair of Fylkingen — the renowned artist-run venue and society for new music and intermedia art in Stockholm — and from 2012 to 2016 she chaired Sound of Stockholm, an international festival for contemporary and experimental music. Her works have been presented in a wide range of contexts internationally, including Experimental Intermedia (New York), the Moscow Biennale for Contemporary Art, Transmediale at the Nordic Embassies (Berlin), World Expo 2010 (Swedish Pavilion, Shanghai), and Ark Hill Music Week (Tokyo), as well as across Sweden in festivals, galleries, and public radio broadcasts.
