Cristóvão Almeida completed his first degree at ESART in Musical Training, Choral and Instrumental Conducting (FMDCI) in 2022. He is currently finalising his second degree at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML) in Composition with composer Carlos Caires. As a composer, his piece ‘Until Quantum’ was selected as part of the ‘Música em Criação’ project for presentation at the Contemporary Music Meetings 2023, organised by the Arte no Tempo association. His acousmatic piece, Estudo Acusmático, was premiered on 10th of January 2024 after being selected as part of the Associação Claraboia's initiative in the Decomposição - Mostra de Compositores Emergentes project. The same work was also played at the 2024 Autumn Festivals in Aveiro at the Electroacoustic Music Days 2024 at the School of Fine Arts in Athens, Greece and will be played at the Évora Contemporary Music Festival 2024. His work, Foco no Desfoque, commissioned by Tiago Coimbra, for oboe and real-time electronics, up to eight channels, was premiered at Lisboa Incomum on 22 June 2024. In the educational context, he was also commissioned by the EMSCAN association to develop a work for Portuguese guitar and fixed electronics. Within the same educational context, he was also commissioned by the Arte no Tempo association to compose a work for violin and fixed electronics, although it has not yet been premiered. He is a member of the production teams of the Projecto DME, Lisboa Incomum and EMSCAN.
