Dust to Dust

Louisa Palmi is a composer and artist working with electronics, electroacoustics, field recordings, and 3D sound technologies to create immersive auditory experiences. With a background spanning music, mathematics, and medicine, her practice is inherently interdisciplinary, combining artistic methodologies with scientific inquiry and cross-disciplinary collaboration to explore new ways of perceiving and understanding complex phenomena. Her work engages with societal and existential conditions, often captured as sonic snapshots. Palmi investigates sound as both a poetic medium and an analytical tool, using it to navigate themes such as death, technology, and urban transformation. Works such as Dust to Dust explore decomposition through sonification, Is it for the Government reflects on cycles of construction, Beginning examines technologically saturated environments, and Abeyance lingers in states of suspension and pause. Her works have been presented at venues and festivals across Europe, including IRCAM, ZKM, MA/IN, and Tallinn Music Week. In 2023, Palmi was named Emerging Artist at the Arctic Arts Festival.
